Introduction

Women's Rights is one Life Issue because it combines many, many aspects of our lives in which women are not yet equal to men. Equality does not mean that women are the same as men, but it does mean that they are not inferior.

Whether one looks back in time to see how much we have gained or looks at where we are and realizes how much farther we must go, it is important for all of us to take a realistic, detailed view of how change happens. No change ever happened without political action. No change, even in our representative democracy, ever happened without a serious public fight for a narrow majority vote.

Some discrimination against women is so built in to our daily lives that we hardly notice it until it affects our personal decision-making or our personal relationships at home or on the job. For some people, even thinking about women as a group makes them uncomfortable.

The term "rights" is automatically a political term, because it measures the distance between where some women are and where all women ought to be.

We need to inform ourselves about the facts, whether they affect some of us or all of us, and then we need to talk to each other online, and take action - all from WomenMatter.
